Changing of Vault Status must be easier in Inventor!

Changing of Vault Status must be easier in Inventor!

Dear Vault Developer Team,

Background: I mapped the Revision Number in our drawings with the Revision of Vault.

Some construction engineers forget to go through life cycle if they create the first issue of drawing (they put it not on "approved") . If they want to make a revision of it then they need to go through the life cycle till they end at "approved" and then after they go back into "in process" the revision index gets +1.

1. Way: Status Change in Vault:

If they click on change status and press through life cycle (for example in process - checked internally - checked by customer - approved, every status must be applied with OK and they need to go back into Change status.

can't you integrate something like an apply button that the status will be changed (also in Version progress in Vault)

but the Status Change dialog is still open until you press OK? Then we can click though the life cycle like it was without doing the step always go back into status change.

2. Way: Status Change in Inventor

I open the drawing (not checked out). I right click on the drawing in vault browser and go to change status

It is the same problem as in 1. Way . There is another thing which takes a lot of time in my opinion. After we changed from "approved" to "in process"  you can see the revision of data is now +1 if you go with mouse over drawing.

But at moment the revision number in title block is not updated. If i right click now on drawing to check it out it shows me first that the drawing cant be checked out and the drawing gets a red actualize cycle

Can you change something to make this process smoother?

Hello,

I do not think that is the task of Autodesk. You can freely configure the lifecycles. So just find something that suits our processes.

Hello RajSchmidt,

thanks for your feedback. I know which lifecycle we want.

(1) It only takes time to click always again on status to show the status changing window to change to the next status.

For older drawings which weren't managed by vault which have for example revision 5 or 6 we need to go 6 times through this(1) our whole lifecycle to get Vault revision on _06 ?

Is there another way?

Thanks in advise

Okay, so you only want to change the revision? There is a command for that in the Actions menu. Be aware, though, that you can only change UPWARDS.

Perfect!

Thank you very much. I found it now. I thought i can only use the preselected Scheme 1.1....1.2.....

but when i klick in next revision i can jump from 01 to for example 10.
