Is there a way to search vault for files that have descriptions that match?
Or a way to search vault vault for files where a portion of the description matches?
I am using Vault Prof 2014.
Reason:
When vault was originally installed the admin assigned file names to purchased parts that are unique but the content and descriptions are the same so I am trying to sort these out and replace the redundant files.

You can use the advanced search, look for the two arrows next to the search window in the project explorer. This open sup a screen that lets you add properties to search by. You add as many criteria as you want. So if you have a "description" property you can search based on that.

Unfortunately we do not really have a search clever enough to just find "matching strings" - you would need to do a search (description is not blank for example) and then sort by description to find duplicates.
A little more labor intensive but perhaps the best option.
