Hello, I`m new in Autodesk Vault, my company need Inventor, and they will work with Vault, but I don`t understand waht need for the implementation of Vault.

I have read much information but I can`t fine the difference between Vautl Server and Vault file server.

My company will work with 5 Inventor, then I need know if only is neccesarie the Vaut server for work with Vault?, or if neccesarie also install Vault file server?

It`s possible to install Vault server alone? or need ADMS too?

Plase I need you help in this problem.

Thanks

Hi Marco,

The vault server (ADMS) is necessary and the file server (AVFS) is optional. The file server is useful in cases where you have a remote office - it speeds up upload and download of files by caching them locally. It sounds like you really only need ADMS (vault server) in your situation.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for your answer. Then I will need Vault server only, right? because the office have one location and not have a remote location.

ADMS it`s the same to Vault server?

Thanks

Correct -

Adms is the official name for vault server . This should be all you need server-side .

Hi,

I am not very familiar with question of what media has what installation. Any version of Inventor entitles you as a vault basic user - I believe vault client does come on that media. Regarding the server, you may need to go to the subscription center to download ADMS if it is not on the media.

Vault Basic Server is located under the tools and utilities part of the suite installation

But Here's a direct link to Vault Basic 2016 Server installation:

Yes -

Vault basic client installer just looks to verify that a qualifying CAD product (like Inventor) is installed. That is the only requirement.
