Vault Nested folder

Someone came across an issue they were havnig with inventor and it appears that their local C:drive is creating duplicate folders inside each other and is not keeping the folder structure that was created in the vault.  I'm not sure if it's beacuse they didn't map the folder correctly or not, but I was wondering if anyone ever came across an issue like this.  He says the problem occurs when he adds files to the Vault. He will have all the files in the correct folder and then it copies the file path and inventor project file and puts it under the engineering folder.  He wants his vault and C:drive structure to look like this: Engineering > Projects > 2014.  I'll post what he wrote along with the screen caps below.

On my C drive, I have a folder call engineering and under that folder I have several folders and one is projects and one is engineering. I did not create the nested engineering folder.  under the engineering folder there is another set of folders. And, I did not make these folders. And it will continue to nest folders.

Hope that makes sense, let me know if you have any more questions or details I can fill you in on.

Thanks!

Hi Daniel, it's actually really difficult to tell what the issue is there.  But on face value it looks like the folder "C:\Engineering" has been designated as the parent (top) folder for your Inventor IPJ which you use for Vault.  But if you look at your Vault folder structure, you have a folder in there called "Engineering" as well.  That will inevitably result in C:\Engineering\Engineering.

Basically if you look at your Vault project explorer, you see the 'Vault Explorer $' folder just above Content Center files? That's supposed to be mapped to the parent folder in your Inventor IPJ, and someone has called that folder 'Engineering'.

I don't think it's nesting, I don't think it's a mapping issue, I think it's a case of two folders being names the same.  The folder 'C:\Engineering' should probably be renamed to C:\$WorkingFolder and that will need edited to be so in the Vault admin options if used to enforce workspace settings, and in the Inventor IPJ workspace settings.

Soz, it's a complicated answer but it's kinda a fiddly topic!

Thanks Neil, I thought at first that maybe the issue was a little easier than I was making it out to be.  Thanks for the help, I really apprecaite it!
