Hello,
I would like to throw out an idea. There are a lot of Autodesk mobile apps out there. How about a Vault mobile app for tablets? When my tablet has an internet connection, I can connect to my company VPN. Then with the Vault app, I could log into my company Vault. I could access change orders, view the item master, and view the project explorer. It probably doesn't make sense for me to be able to check out or check in files, since I don't have Inventor or AutoCAD on the tablet. But just being able to access my Vault from a tablet would be very helpful and allow me to be productive at an airport or on the road. I'm not sure if other people would agree, though. Any thoughts?

Depending on the flavour of Vault you are using you could use the web client and your phone / tablet to gain access to your Vault data.
I'm using Vault Professional. The webclient is "ok". But it lacks alot of features, as it should, since it's just a webclient. Hopefully, a Vault app of some sort isn't too far away.

we too use Vault Professional and the biggest thing for us missing from the webclient is the ability to view and interact with change orders. Not that I think people should be able to create or edit change orders but it sure would be nice if they could view the change orders and add comments (and pictures)
So if the Vault app could do this, that would rock.

I think you will see the Web Client development grind to a halt now PLM 360 is here. Once they get dwf's being passed to PLM 360 with Vault sync via Items the web client will essentially be made redundant by a far superior tool....but you have to pay for it...
Lets face it, really, the web client is complete crap. But we will use it in the interim to share dwf'w with our clients & partners.

So Autodesk, we do now have a mobile App for vault. (Although it took you several years to buy it from a Russian Reseller).
It is great that you have used your Forge platform to display the DWFs. This is a far superior interaction and image/dosplay quality compared to design review - why? Why not allow design review to have the same performance?
But why is the mobile vault app only available on IOS systems - why not Windows and Android based devices.
When will we see this next step.
I have been waiting 15 years for my workshop to become paperless - 15 years since I first started using Inventor and the vault. 15 years since Autodesk splashscreens of software, and marketing images hinted that a paperless workshop was possible. Not everything runs on IOS.
I guess I will keep waiting.
thank you
Andy
