Vault basic. No filename check while saving in Inventor?

Hi all

We are currently in the process of looking into vault basic 2020. Using Inventor Pro 2020

We activated the "enforce unique file names" option.

My question is why isn't Inventor checking this while saving a file? Do I need to activate some other option, maybe in Inventor itself? At the time I check in my files vault will complain, but then it's to late. Imagine creating 100 new files in a day and have vault complain when checking in.

I found alot of stuff about good practice and a good numbering or naming scheme, but I always assumed you would get warned before saving.

I have never worked with Vault before so maybe I am overlooking something basic here.

Thank you.

Hello,

The behavior you see for Vault Basic is currently As-designed.

Currently there is no setting/way to detect and assign/check unique file name on 'create/save' action for Vault Basic.

Please note there is a capability 'Numbering scheme' however this is supported with Vault workgroup and Professional only, this could help in such situation to good extent.

Hi

Thank you for that clarification.

Does vault pro have such a check when saving in Inventor?

We don't really reuse alot of things we make. Maybe turning the unique names back off with be a better solution for us?

Thank you.
