Vault 2021 Crashes when changing state of any file

Anonymous
Not applicable

We have been using Vault 2021 for a little over a week now with no issues. Today my Vault Client crashes when I try to change the state of a file. Other users do not have this issue. I tried an uninstall of my Vault Client and reinstall but I have the same issue. When I select any file and select change state this happens and then Vault closes.Capture.JPG

Please help me understand why this is happening and how do I fix it?

Thanks!

After several crashes now the change state dialog box remains open. If I change to Design View tree everything crashes as before. If i change to Folder View nothing shows up. List View seems to work but everything is spread so far apart left to right it's basically unusable. See image:Capture.JPG

Few other info needed

- Is it for any specific Category/Life Cycle state?

- What happens if you try on a new Vault?

In the meantime can you please export your server config and send that to me at senthilDOTkumarATautodeskDOTcom?

Thank you for the reply. We only have one category, models, that we have a life-cycle for. We also only have one vault. Our other users are still able to move files through the life-cycle process, it seems to be just my Vault Client that crashes when attempting this. Today it has gone back to crashing whenever I select change state except now the dialog box shows up as shown in my 2nd post but when I select the state drop-down my Vault Client crashes. It was working for about 3 hours today and now it does not.

I do not admin the servers so I do not have access to the config information you requested.

@Senthil_Kumar , I was able to get a copy of the config file and have sent that to the email address you provided.

Thank you for looking into this.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply and sending the Config file. When I tried Change state after using the config I do not see the issue. Looks like its just our client machine has the issue. So can we try this?

1. Close your Client
2. Go to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Vault Professional 2021.
3. Back up all the folders and files
4. After backup Cut and move all the Folders and files to other location.
5. Now try to launch Client and then try Change state. Let us know how this goes.

I had the same symtoms as dmueller, but this fix did not work on my machine.

Are there any other fixes that can be tried.

In my case,  I can change state on a part from within the inventor pro using the vault browser. However if i try to do a change state from within the client interface, it crashes every time.

Did you try this solution?

Anyways the Dev team is working on a fix for this issue and the fix will be released once it is ready. Till then please use this workaround - which i suppose should work.

Thanks.

The progress of this issue is being tracked in this public facing article.

Column Headers get wider and wider in VP2021 client

As the investigation into the issue progresses it will be updated.

For now, the workaround, as mentioned in the article is to:-

  1. Close the Vault Client.
  2. Delete this file. "%APPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Vault Professional 2021\ApplicationPreferences.xml"
  1. Restart the Vault Client
