Vault 2017 Combined Folder and Lifecycle Permissions

I am having difficulty setting up the following scenario in Vault for folder and lifecycle permissions with a single lifecycle workflow. Could you advise as to if this is possible? I read that there were new security setting for Vault 2017 but I am still unable to create this scenario in the new software. R=Read, W=Write, D=Delete, None=Completely Hidden. These are three separate Plant folders.

Hi AndriaLynch!

You can try to use Vault-categories instead of folders.

Assigns the file desired category and it automatically picks up the required Lifecycle.

Thank you for the response Berucheva. This scenario would require 3 different lifecycle definitions, correct? Unfortunately this will not work for us because we have more than three plants(more like 10) and in this scenario, we would have to maintain 10 different lifecycle schemes and categories. Also, new files would have to be manually assigned to a category every time they are checked in. Is there a way to do this with a single category for Engineering files and a single lifecycle workflow? Thank you for your input.

Because of the "none" restrictions in the WIP and Review states, you will have to create a separate lifecycle for each.  If you were able to put them at Read permissions in these 2 states you could do it with one lifecycle and setting the folder permissions to Read-Only for the specific group based on the folder.

It is correct. The number of cycles equal to the number of categories. The good news is that this should be done once. For the automatically assign the category you may use the rules:

To be clear, a category can have more then one lifecycle.  However the category can only have one default lifecycle.
