Vault 2016 Status Icons always red

I set up a new Vault 2016 server & client on same machine at home.’The problem I have is any time I check out files to work on them the status icons always turn red and message is “file has been moved or renamed”  (I have done neither)

Then sometimes when I try to refresh files it gets checked out to someone else

(but I am the only user)

Also, Vault duplicates the folder structure in the workspace, creating another set of

folders & files directly under the root (not proper location). Even after checking all in,

delete all files & folders in work space, after another check out this happens again.

And one more thing, normally with our vault at work, if I create a folder in the vault,

then right click on it, then select “Go to Working Folder” Vault will create this folder

in my workspace. This does not happen at home. no folder is created like that.

I suspect it is mapping, or project issue somehow, however I have tried just about

everything (I know of) to resolve it without success, even copying all our settings here.

What is going on? And How can I fix it?

Thanks, Don

Check the workspace folder mapping in Vault Explorer. The root folder should be the same location as your Inventor project file.

Is the vault data your are working with at home a copy of your work data? If so the folder structure at home should duplicate what you have at work.

Vault will update file references on the users workspace. If the folder structure is different enough, it will see the file as being renamed or moved.

You can also try closing the Inventor files, then deleting the _V folder in your workspace/project folder. This may eliminate the red icon. It's a hidden folder so you may have to turn those on to find it.

It was the workspace mapping that was the issue. As you recommended, I checked the mapping in Vault explorer and that was correct (The working folder ) I discovered the mapping within Inventor to be the issue under “Vault- Access- Map Folders “ It was a bit tricky to fix because as I found out, all files needed to be closed, and project file needed to be checked out in order to correct it.

Thank You bobfournier4926, It works properly now.
