I'm trying to do Copy Design in Vault Basic 2022 and I'm getting an error message: Value cannot be null. parameter name path 2. Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks,

Bill

Can you check to make sure you're not missing a field that needs a value, such as new file name or destination path, or anything similar?

@Anonymous I meant in the process of the Copy Design.... isn't that where you are seeing the error?

Correct, I browse to the folder in Vault. I right click the file to copy. I select copy design. And this when I get the error.

I'm getting this error message before I get to the dialog box for copy design. It is when I right click on a file and click on Copy Design when the error message appears.

I have not seen this error before either.  Is this happening with specific file types or with all files?  Also, are you on the latest version of 2022 or a different version?

This error is happening on .iam files. It is not happening on all iam files. I'm on version 2022.1.1.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/vault-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

If that official solution does not work, try this older one here:

Change the working folder to "C:\Vault\" instead of "C:\"

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/vault-2012-copy-design-error-value-cannot-be-null-paramet...

This one is apparently good if you simply change the option in Vault administration to enforce working folder:

  1. Select Tools > Administration > Vault Settings.
  2. In the Vault Settings dialog box, click the Files tab.
  3. In the Working Folder section, click Define.
  4. In the Working Folder Options dialog box, specify whether clients can define a working folder or whether a consistent working folder location is enforced for all clients.
