Update AutoCAD Vault thumbnail - Vault 2022

Does anyone know what controls the thumbnail image for .dwg files?  I have several files that I would like to update the thumbnail on but saving and checking-in does not fix it.  It always shows the same incorrect thumbnail.

Thanks

Yes. The thumbnail in the Autocad "Recently Used" shows the correct preview, but not the thumbnail in Vault.

@karthur1

Is that an Inventor DWG?

No.  This is an Autocad .DWG file.  The person that created this, started with our Inventor .IDW template and did a save as .DWG.  I think they did that to get the Titleblock information, rather than recreating it.  That is why the preview looks like an Inventor drawing.

I don't recall any AutoCAD DWG files having a background color.

What does the Provider property show?

To convert an IDW to a DWG you need to do it inside of Inventor. This makes the DWG an Inventor DWG not an AutoCAD DWG, even if all of the editing is inside of AutoCAD.

I see now what the original author did.  They started with our IDW template and saved this as an Inventor DWG.  Then to complete the drawing, they edited it in AutoCAD not Inventor. This sort of makes a mess of the preview because the preview is generated in Inventor (I think).

Is there a way to fix this?

You cannot convert this over to an AutoCAD-only DWG. It will always be an Inventor DWG.

To update the Thumbnail, you will have to edit it in Inventor.

The author "should" have exported the Inventor IDW to an AutoCAD DWG file.... then did the edits in ACAD.  I think this would have fixed all of the thumbnail issues.

Thanks again.
