Unable to create a vault or log in admin after new install of Vault 2021 Professional

Unable to create a vault or log in admin after new install of Vault 2021 Professional on Windows Server 2016 Enterprise with SQL Server 2016 (instance named AUTODESKVAULT).  SA password is set to the default used by the installation. Using enterprise license servers.

When launch ADMS Console, prompted to create a master vault (as none exist), error: "The CREATE DATABASE" statement failed. The primary file must be at least 20 MB to accommodate a copy of the model database."

If choose No, do not create a vault, then can get to the ADMS Console.  But Log In Admin is greyed out, so can't change configurations or create a vault.

Any ideas on how to get it to work?

My first question would be, are you sure you have enough space available for the Vault?  I ask because the error you are getting mentions space.

The server drive where the MSSQL13.AUTODESKVAULT database file folder is installed has 199 GB free space.

It looks like someone set some limitations inside of SQL on database creation. You should check with whoever installed and configured SQL prior to installing Vault.

Go into the SQL Management Studio and see what the initial size is configured for the Model database.

8MB is the default size.

I am logged onto server with a user that has both Local Admin rights on server and SysAdmin rights on SQL Server.  The VaultSys SQL user has setupadmin server role.  SA and VaultSys SQL users have the default passwords as expected by the install.

The size of a newly created Knowledgevault Master database is around 10 MB. Thus if your Model database initial size is 20 MB the create statement will fail. Change the initial size to 8 MB like in Irvin Hayes post.

Changed the initial size of Model DB to 8MB as advised.  Install completed and was able to create a Vault. Thanks!
