Setting up Vault 2019 New install to local database

Hi,

I could realyl do with some help please.

I am trying to set Vault 2019 up to a local database, but I can not get it to see it.

I have done the following

1. Install SQLExpress 2017 with Instance Name : AUTODESKVAULT

The install instructions say that if that instance exists then it will be auto detected.

Other instructions say that I have to Select Local Database on the configure product page before the install.

There is no option that I can see to select a local database option.

Please could someone advise some possible routes?

Thank you.

Remove your version of SQL Express. Let the Vault Server install SQL Express and then you can upgrade that instances to 2017.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

So i did what you said and it did not install any version of SQL as part of the install.

Just to be safe i did a complete fresh install of Server 2019 and tried again.

The first thing i did was run the Vault File Server 2019 installer, downloaded directly from my products page within autodesk.

Once again, no version of sql was installed as part of the Autodesk Vault File Server 2019 installer.

Im genuinely at a loss, the instructions on Autodesks website say that if no SQL is detected then the installer will install it.

Just to be clear, i have done exactly the below, im obviously going wrong somewhere, but i dont know where.

1. Installed fresh copy of Windows Server 2019

2. Updated Server 2019 with all updates

3. Downloaded Autodesk File Server 2019 Web Installer

4. Ran this exe. At no point does it even mention SQL express as part of configurable options or install.

5. Once ran i went to add/remove programs and no version of SQL express is installed.

6. Ran Autodesk once installed to see what would happen. Just get a message that I need to configure a ADMS server.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I opened a support case with Autodesk but not getting any response there.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous ,

The Autodesk File Server doesn't use or install SQL. You need to be installing the Vault Server.

This is different then the File Server.

The File Server is used in replicated environments and it sounds like you are just setting up the system.

In you managed Account, you will see this list.  "Vault Professional" is the main Vault Server that you need to install.

Sorry for the confusion.
