This error is similar to the one reported in the following thread.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/rename-files-with-vault-basic-2019/td-p/8185140

Can you tell us what operation in Vault you are performing when this error occurs?

@ihayesjr I was trying to Copy Design when I got this message. I 've been getting it most with the Copy Design tool, also moving the files from folder to folder and Renaming.

I could try the steps outlined in the post that you've attached to see if that helps? Isn't there also an Autodesk software tool that could to a scan for repairs?

Do you have Vault 2019.1 Update installed? Can you also try restarting the Vault Client?

Hi @janelson33. Thanks for your patience on this rename issue you are seeing in Vault. I see that you have some suggestions to try from @ihayesjr and @Senthil_Kumar. I would definitely recommend you follow their suggestions. But I wanted to add a few things of my own.

First, I have not been able to reproduce this error message on my test systems. That makes me think it is something related only to your data or Vault installation. After you try the suggestions from Irvin and Senthil, let me know and we can get a Support Request started for you to troubleshoot together on your system. It would be good to get a data set such a Pack and Go and an Autodesk Screencast video showing the steps to reproduce the error on your system.

Second, here are steps to the tool you can use to repair the Vault installation.

Let me know if you have any questions and how following Irvin's and Senthil's suggestions go.

Same exact error after 2019.1 update...

Not sure why that .dll file has not been made available?

I have tried multiple times to uninstall/repair and after a reboot or two the same problem is back once again.

Even been on with an Autodesk Tech live and of course it would not do it then. But it is back now....

Thank you for your patience on this Vault rename and copy design issue. We are seeing this with multiple customers from at least the three forum posts below. Our development team knows about this behavior and are actively looking into it. I am going to mark this thread as "Solved" so others can find that the development team is working on this known issue. I would recommend that you also post any specifics about behaviors or patterns that lead to this error, as well as, any resolutions or workarounds you find that could help others.

Multiple tries at Uninstall/Repair of Vault, Inventor, and Inventor View have not completely fixed this.

The repair does not place the missing .dll and even if the repair 'fixes' the issue temporarily it returns after a reboot or two..or three.

More annoying than anything and mostly a time waster. I am for now avoiding renaming-copy design which are the two most useful tools in Vault.

My fix for this issue was very simple. I have Product Design Collection, with multiple softwares on same machine.

In searching the C:\Programs Files\Autodesk folder for "adp_core" you will find multiple files in each sub directory for applicable software. I copied the local version of adp_core dll file from my NavisWorks folder. I assume you could choose any of these:

I then copied that file to applicable C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Vault Basic 2019\Explorer directory. No reboot or anything. Just try again, and it works. No errors at all.

Hope this helps others. Seems like the dll just doesn't come over to the needed directory for Vault.

I've just copied adp_core to the right place and everything is working fine again.

As described in message 10. Did a run to find the file on other places on the computer and copied it to the Vault folder.

Just copy any other version you have on your local hard drive. If you have any other 2019 software installed, you can search the hard drive and copy from any Autodesk folder. Then paste into Vault directory.

This is exactly what I suggested to the Autodesk rep I spoke to about this issue and they were reticent to do this simple fix.

It has been referred to 'Development' at Autodesk which may mean its a bit like being referred to the Government?

I am going to try this as I and others I know are having this problem and not getting an answer!

Not had enough time to see if it is stable but I would reccomend this is the solution!

Will report back if it stops working....

Finally got tired of seeing this, so I did this right after I had the error and it has worked for this one instance. Hopefully this is a reliable solution as well! Thanks for the easy fix!

I did this a week or so back and no problems and no more error screens...

Not sure why the development team is taking so long.. probably that .dll is no longer needed but the program is still looking for it anyway..doesn't hurt to have it there anyway!

Dev team is looking for a consistent way to reproduce this issue. So far we do not have that steps. If anyone is able to reproduce the issue consistently could you please share it with us?

From our testing so far this DLL is not used by Vault. Some other component is using. But that component is looking in Vault location instead of its own install location.

In order to debug this issue we need a way to reproduce the issue. So any help in reproducing the issue will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.
