Search part parameter names and values in Vault

Just a question about the search abilities in Vault (2024/2025). Is it possible (and if yes, how) to search specific parameter names used in Inventor parts (and/or assemblies). In almost all of our skeleton parts, the same parameter names are used, but with different values. I'd like to be able to search these specific parameters in Vault and filter on the values to create a sort of summary of projects matching these values.

Can someone point me in the correct direction to do this?

Hi @miechh ,

To be able to search some Inventor metadata (e.g. custom iProperties and their values) you need to map metadata from Inventor to Vault properties (Create a User-Defined property | Vault 2025, Map Properties | Vault 2025 and How to map an Autodesk Inventor custom property in Autodesk Vault as references). But as far as I know you cannot map parameters directly in Vault but if you can transfer parameters to custom iProperties in some way it will probably be possible to map them (custom iProperties will need to be in each part to later read specific values from them to Vault after mappings are in place). Maybe some iLogic can help with this task? Or this Inventor tool - To Import or Export Parameters | Inventor 2025?  But the last part is more an Inventor thing (and I am definitely not an expert in that field). Once all is set you should be able to use search (possibly advanced one would be better as you can use specific Vault properties as search criteria - Perform a Search | Vault 2025).

I would suggest trying this setup in small set of files in test environment first (or you might try asking your Autodesk Partner or Reseller if they can assist in configuring your Vault environment).

Side information – I found existing idea for allowing to map and later search for parameters so you can vote and comment it Ability to search Inventor parameters in Vault | Vault Ideas

I hope that helps.

Arek
