Remote SQL Shared Folder

When setting up Vault, we have the ability to use a remote SQL instance.  When doing so, we also have to specify a shared folder.  Why is that?  Specifically this is single site.  Are files being stored in this folder?  What files would they be?

This folder is used as a transition area between the Database and the ADMS and snapshottting.  See this lInk and under "Use a Remote database (Vault Collaboration and Vault Professional Only)" and number three explains it pretty well.

Be sure to follow the instructions to allow proper security access to the network shares from Vault to prevent issues that sometimes are hard to trace.

Good Luck!

Thanks @rtowne72.  It was my understanding that snap shots were specific to replication (getting data from one instance to another), and not needed in a single site.

Hi,

The shared location used for operations like backup / restore, library export, etc.. Basically cases where Vault needs to pass file data between the remote SQL server and ADMS for administrative purposes.
