Project and File links

Hello,

We are using 2012 Vault pro. In this release, I believe the ability to create file links to folders and project folders was introduced.

We are utilizing this to track some of our project history. My question is, when we search the system for a particular design, File abc.ipt, we find the actual file and the "link" that appears in the search results. What we want to do is go to where the link was created.

Right click "Go to folder", takes you to the original file location. How would we get to where we created the link? We would like to go to the project folder so we can see why the link was created. Is there some shortcut like ctrl right click?

Thanks,

Jeremy

I dont think there is a way to acheive this in the workflow you have described.

However, when you select the file and view the where used tab you can see all the folders where links exist for that file.

To see this in the where used click on the filter button and choose folders. When you see the folder in the where used you can right click on it and choose "Go To Folder".

As a side note; you can also see Items and Change orders (Vault Pro) in the where used by changing the filter as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mikel! That will work!

I don't know why I haven't noticed the filter button before on the where-used.

Thanks for the help
