Preventing auto text in BOM

Hi

First post here.

Normally I manage to solve Vault related issues with the help of Google but this time I have no succes at all.

I have a problem that might seem strange at first look but hopefully I can explain to make it easy to understand.

The problem is the automatic (and invisible?) link between items in the BOM list.

I have created a user defined property called "Ref designation" and this is associated to BOM Row only.

When I create my structure I aim to use this column (Ref designation) to name the objects according to the standard EN81346.

The particular system I am working with right now have several identical valves (for example) in different position, it is the same Item in the database but the naming should be different depending on position in the system.

When I enter my text (naming according to the standard) in the "Ref designation" column, Vault puts the information on all items with the same number in the BOM list, not only on the row where I am writing.

This is really an issue for me, we are forced to use this naming standard and we dont want to release several Items that are identical (it is standard purchased parts)

Anyone know if this "automatic linking feature" can be turned off? Or if I can solve this in another way?

To clarify:

I'm only using Vault Pro 2017 as a stand alone client, not using Inventor in this project.

See attached picture for clarification.

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter!

/Anders

A bom row property is associated with a specific instance of a child under a parent.  In your example, the property is on the first E000083 under E000093.  It can (and does) have a different value than the second instance of E000083 under E000093.

I think that you are wanting what we call occurrence properties which would allow rows like

A->E000083->E000093

and

A->B->E000083->E000093

to have different values.

Unfortunately we do not have an easy way to accomplish what you want.

OK, I need to find another solution for this.

Thanks anyway!
