Network client nodes freezing up

We have a few computers that randomly freeze up throughout the work day. This started happening about a month ago. Other than they have a common manufacturer, they are the only computers on the network that have Autodesk Inventor and Vault (2014) products installed. The computers will sometimes freeze even without any Autodesk products running (although I think the MS Office products try to run the Vault Add-In)

IT says it is because the SQL express server has reached its capacity of 10GB for the Vault. Could this cause the described behaviour on the nodes, or is this a separate issue?

@lesmfunk

If you are hitting the SQL Express limits, there may be something in your server logs to show this.  I do recall around 2013 or 2015 having this happen, but I cannot remember what the symptoms were.  We upgraded to full SQL and whatever it was went away.  I suggest checking the server logs right after someone locks up, see what is going on.

We upgraded to full SQL when moving to Vault and IV 2019. No freezing up anymore.

I guess our IT guys were correct. But it took them over a month to figure it out.

I'll mark Chris' "full SQL" comment as the solution.
