Move from SQL 2017 Express to SQL 2019 Evaluation

Hi, i currently have a Autodesk Vault Server 2024 instance with SQL Server 2017 Express.

The database size surpasses the free limit.

We are preparing to purchase the Standard edition but we can't now.

Is there a way to like, uninstall SQL Server 2017 Express and then install SQL Server 2019 Evaluation.

Because the 180 days of free trial will give us enough time to buy the SQL Server licences.

Can I just make a full backup and then uninstall the SQL 2017 and install the SQL 2019?

How does Autodesk Vault Server will react to this?

Thanks in advance.

For testing you can use SQL 2019 Evaluation, but never for production:

The SQL Server Evaluation edition is available for a 180-day trial period.
It can also never be used for production workload as per the license agreement.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I didn't know about this restriction.

We endded up buying the sql 2022 standard and upgrading to the full licenced version.

For those who are wondering how to update the vault server version, just download the .iso once you bought it and click on upgrade current version selecting the current AUTODESKVAULT instance.

I'm gonna close this thread.

If you're still on Vault 2024 you're now running an unsupported environment. I would advice you to upgrade to Vault 2025 to get support for SQL 2022:

I forgot to mention that.

We bought the 22 Standard version but I've installed the 19 version because vault 24 doesn't support the sql 22.

Thanks for your advice!

Best regards.
