Mannualy added Vault ITEMs on ITEMs shown in Parts Only Vault filter as Parts

Hi all. Maybe someone have different approach, so....

Ok, let me explain.

First, we are using Vault Professional 2022.4.1, with ITEMs connected with ERP, and trying to use RAW material ITEMs.

We crated database of RAW materials (M########) in ITEMS and we assign them on every PART (PN########) related ITEM (CAD generated):

If we put on ITEM window filter to show Parts Only it is showing last cascaded ITEM:

This is not what I have expected, because Parts Only need to be PN#######. They are last Parts in Part only list (not last ITEM in Parts Only list). For me that needs to be ITEMS Only list, not Part Only list. Because ITEM doesn’t need to be Part and ITEM doesn’t need to have model inside of it.

We don’t need calculated QTY for Raw material in Vault. This is done by ERP. We only send structure with QTY that we are sending to ERP but RAW materials calculations is done inside ERP within conversation unit for every purchased RAW material. In Vault we have Base Unit, ERP have conversation table wits all Vendors/Costs/Units

And interesting is, if we change Part BOM type in Inventor to be shown as Purchased or Inseparable (what is nonsense) then we get correct "Parts Only" list:

So, my question is:

- is there any thick box that I missed that ITEMs filter work as I supposed that it will work (Parts Only for Parts)?

- is there a option or something that I can tell that PN####### ITEM is last ITEM in cascaded list when I use Parts Only filter?

Thank you.

I got really confused with your explanation, so I will start with some basic questions.
Are you expecting a "Parts Only" filter to show anything else besides Parts, just because you make Items for parts without the actual IPT part?
Have you experimented with Inventor virtual components just to have a placeholder part to assign an item with?

Hi @Gabriel_Watson

Yes and No. I expected that ITEM Parts Only filter will end with last ITEM from CAD driven BOM ITEMS (not manually created ITEMs).

That means if i created Project ITEM, and add it as last ITEM in BOM under the Part ITEM, it eill be listed in Parts Only list.

If i use Virtual components from inventor, are they showing automatically in drawing Part list? I dont want that. I don want to see raw materials in Inevntor drawing and that engineers use time to hide then in drawing.

Another thing is i want to have database of raw materials that engineers can pick from.

Thnx,

Goran
