Link vault to excel and AutoCAD

My company is looking at using vault to manage our AutoCAD files and their dependencies. I am wondering if it is possible to link an excel file to Vault then have vault update the attributes in the drawing.

I know you can map attribute from AutoCAD to the vault. Then when you make a change to the user defined property, vault updates the attribute in AutoCAD. 

So can you map an excel sheet, to the property in vault that is mapped to AutoCAD?

As far as I know, this is not possible.  The properties for the XLS file would be mapped to the Vault Properties for that XLS, there is no way to map those properties to a DWG's Vault Properties.

You can generate a report on folders or saved searches, which can be customized to include properties.
