Lifecycle States Not Available

Hello,

Just got back from AU2011 and wanted to try a few things, but I'm dealing with not knowing how the Vault was set up in the first place.  Vault Pro 2011.

I've gone into Tools\Administration\Vault Settings\Behaviors\Lifecycles.  I found a definition which was set for our drawings in Vault, and looked at it.  See below:

When I go back to the Vault browser, select a file and try to change state on it, however, only 3 choices come up as in this pic:

I'm assuming this may be a permissions issue, but since I am setup with Administrator security, why would I not see "Released" as an option in this pull down?  Any ideas?

Hi Chris

First I would say - don't make any changes to the setup unless you are in a pure test Vault (like a Sandbox).

It is not like you can damage anything - but it could make changing back to the original setup a little harder if you accidently change something in a producttion Vault.

A new Vault will not default have your settings - so start by making a Export Configuration in ADMS Console from your exisitng Vault.

Create a New test Vault - and use the option "Use a custom configuration file" and point to the file you just exported.

This wiil give you a new empty vault with the same settings as your original vault.

So after changing to a test Vault - go to the Life Cycle Scheme "Project Life Cycle",

Press Edit and switch to the Transition Tab. Select the Transition Work In Progress -> Released, and pick the Security Tab

You will will probbaly see some users have an Allow setting - while others (including Administrator) have a Deny.

This setting defines who have the authority to move the file from WIP to Released - provided the crieries are fullfuilled (that is on one of the the other tabs).

So make you tests and  trials in the Test Vault - before you apply changes to your production Vault.

I hope this helps you forward.

Best regards
