This one has me baffled...

I have three separate assemblies each with their own unique parts but, for whatever reason, when I go to assign items to them, it stuffs them all into the same item.

The itemThe itemBom1Bom1Bom2Bom2Bom3Bom3Three assembliesThree assemblies

I have tried the following (to no avail):

  1. purge all old versions from the files being assigned items
  2. checked out and updated all the files
  3. renamed the properties of the files
  4. opened and verified that there's no links to any other files (there aren't any)
  5. assigned the item to one assembly and RELEASED the item... the others still attached to it (as secondary links)
  6. Deleted the items and recreated them (multiple times)

So I am scratching my head... why are these coming in under the same item??

@dsl145

There has to be something that these files are carrying that is common between them.  I've had this happen before and racked my brain up and down before finally finding something subtle linking the files.  Have you looked at your Item number mapping to make sure there isn't something on the files that is linking them in that way?  Some other iproperty?

Can you share the files here?  (pack and go?)  or are they proprietary?

Nothing proprietary since these are all purchased items.

I can't think of anything linking them other than maybe 2 of the 3 versions was created via copy design... but that still shouldn't do this.

Files attached.

found it....

the part numbers were all given the same number and apparently Vault keenly tried to make these all the same item because of it.
