Issues connecting into Data Management Service on Localhost

Hi All,

I have extremely limited knowledge in the AutoDesk ecosystem, but have been asked by a client to look at setting up a Vault Basic Vault for users to work within.

I managed to get to the point of installing both the Console and the Client on the machine, but when trying to go to Tools -> Administration, I get an error message that it can't find the Data Management Service on http://127.0.0.1:80/ (being the local host).

This is on the local host itself that I'm trying to get into, so I'm a little confused how it can't communicate with itself.

There has been no prior setup so I'm happy to strip it out and start again where necessary.

I've followed a YT video I found online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFGON1CIhns), followed it through twice but i'm really not sure what I'm missing.

I've fully disabled the Firewall - no AV on the machine other than Defender.
Played around in IIS a little but ended up resetting.

I can get to http://localhost on the machine.

Is there anything else I could try? Sorry for the lack of information, this is all new to me and not something I've dealt with in the past.

Hi JazDZY,

What version of Vault do you have installed? The video is already somewhat outdated for the new versions of Vault.

You could just start with the installation of the ADMS during the Pre-Checks. Should you get the message of a reboot needed you can follow these steps: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Vault-Server-insta....

After the first login you will be asked to create a Vault which you must do. and specify the location of the filestore etc.

After the ADMS is installed and you have installed the Vault Client you will need to enter 'Local Host' at the server. Once you have done that click on the 3 dots to the right of 'Vault:' you will then see the Vault that has been created.

And if you have not yet set a password for the Administrator Vault Account leave Password blank. Then you can set up the Vault in terms of folders etc.
