Issue with updating vault server to 2017

I am having trouble updating the vault server to 2017.  I have updated the SQL server to the appropriate version, however after entering the licensing information into the vault server installer, a message states that "Autodesk Vault File Server cannot be installed on a machine hosting Autodesk Data Management Server".

I do not remember running into this issue when updating to vault server 2016.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

I think you have the wrong installer package.

There is an ADMS installer and an AVFS installer for remote files stores.

Autodesk Vault File Server cannot be installed. 

That's mean you are install "Autodesk Vault File Server" on this machine, this is a different software with Autodesk Vault Server basic / Pro.

The Autodesk Vault File Server 2017 provides support for distributed teams by enabling remote locations. This is a smaller and simpler deployment configuration than the full replication configuration with fast client access to remote meta-data and to local files.

Notes:

• Autodesk Vault File Server does not require database replication.
• Autodesk Vault File Server 2017 connects only to Autodesk Vault Professional Server 2017.
• Autodesk Vault File Server cannot be installed on the same machine in which Autodesk Vault Professional Server is installed.
• After you are done installing the Autodesk Vault File Server, you must configure your server settings before you can begin using the Vault File Server.

you need download Vault Server basic / Pro for your installation.
