Insert into CAD 2018 - error on replicated Vaults

Anonymous

Hi all,

Using new Vault feature "Insert Into CAD", I get an error when using it on a Vault that is replicated (Vault Replication) :

Please activate.png

Please activate your Vault project 'C:\Vault\Designs.ipj' in Inventor.

I get this error only when I'm log into replicated Vault. No error when working on the Test Vault, that is not replicated.

Local Administrator, only one Inventor is running, only One Vault Explorer is running, same logon, same site (same issue on both replicated sites).

Of course, right project is active in Inventor, and correct project configuration in Vault settings.

Is it a bug, or a configuration issue ? Any idea ?

Thanks for help !

Hi @Anonymous,

I was able to reproduce this error message "Please activate your Vault project 'C:\Vault\Designs.ipj' in Inventor" in a replicated and nonreplicated environment. This happens when the .ipj file that is listed in Vault (Tools > Options) is not the currently active project file in Inventor. Even if it's the same project file but the local copy is in a different folder location than the Vaulted project file loaded in Inventor you will still see this warning.

One way to check:

  1. Close Inventor
  2. Download the project file from Vault
  3. Open Inventor
  4. Select Projects
  5. Select Browser
  6. Select the downloaded project file
  7. Open a new part
  8. Back in Vault Select "Insert into CAD"

By adding the downloaded project file back into Inventor you will see if the project location is different than the Inventor project you are using.

See picture below, I needed to switch the project file to the other vaulted project file (Check box should be set to the yellow mark).

Please let me know if this resolved your issue.

Regards,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for help... But it doesn't work.

I closed Inventor, and delete local Designs.ipj.

I download Designs.ipj file from Vault explorer.

Start Inventor, autologon

Start Vault, autologon : same filename, same servername.

In Inventor, delete all project (but Default). Browse to the Vault project, activate it, ensure that is the same location as Vault.

New part, Insert into CAD => Always the same error !

BUT ! If I connect, in the Vault Explorer, with IP Adress instead of alias, I have no issue. In Inventor, I can be connected to Vault with alias (servername) OR with IP Adress, it works in both cases.

Any idea why ???

Thanks !

=> SOLUTION : Connect in Vault explorer with IP Adress instead of servername or alias.

IP Adress instead of servername works, because it create new local configuration.

Solution was :

Create in %appdata% a "WorkingFolders.xml" file that contains correct path, with correct Upercase / lowercase path for workspace.

In my Vault Explorer, it is "C:\Vault", but it was "C:\vault" in XML file.
