Folder properties populating to file properties

Does anyone have a good idea of what is required to input a property at a folder level, and have this property automatically assigned to all sub-folders and files?

For instance, using Data Standard to specify a project number for a folder. And all the sub-folders and subsequent files will inherit this property, minimizing the need to input this property value per file.

Sorry, but there is not a way to propagate folder property values down to subfolders.
