Fields in Customize View

In a pane such as "Project Explorer" if you select "view : Customize View : Fields"  you get a list of fields to choose from that will make columns on the pane.  For example "LENGTH".  You then get a column labeled LENGTH.  I am trying to figure out where the vault display picks this number/data from ??

Many of our parts contain a LENGTH in the CUSTOM tab of the iProperties but this data never seems to show up in the view. I can get a user parameter to show up in the CUSTOM tab which can be set from the parameters dialog but even that does not show up in the view.

Hi @jbwaiteG7526,

If your files have values in the properties, you will need to map those properties to Vault User Defined Properties for them to appear in Vault. If you are using Vault Workgroup or Professional, you will have to make sure those properties are part of the category those files are in.

I am not sure what you mean when you say the properties have to be part of
the category the files are in.
Of everything I found on the categories, I couldn't find anything that
would allow me to add properties to the catefory.
I am using Inventor / Vault Professional 2018

When you create a category, you assign properties to the category in the tab shown in this image. The first step is to make sure the Length user-defined property exists and is mapped to the Inventor iProperty Lenght.
