Export Content Center Library in replicated environment

Hello everybody,

I am working in a 2018.0 environment with Inventor Professional and Vault Professional with one replicated site.

The ContentCenters are managed as Vault Libraries.

Before changing something in the family tables of the content center in Inventor, I would like to create a backup of the library I am about to edit.

However, going to the ADMS console and clicking "export" gives me an error message, which tells me that exporting a library is not possible due to the replicated environment.

So my question is:

Is it possible to extract some kind of backup here? A possibility to work around the restriction would be as much appreciated as any thoughts on other methods to create a backup or a way to go back to the old database version in case something goes wrong with the editing.

Thank you very much,

Claudia Köster

Hi Claudia,

A normal Vault backup would contain all custom libraries.

If you needed to revert to that older version, it would be a matter of doing the following:

- restore backup onto a test machine

- export the older version of the library on the test machine

- unreplicate and delete the bad library on the production machine

- attach the older version on the production machine

I'm sorry so many steps would be involved in doing the revert. 'Export' is done by detaching and making a copy of the library - and SQL Server does not allow this in a replicated environment.

Hi @ClKöster,

You could un replicate just the Inventor library and then export the library. Then you could make the changes you need and test. Once everything is the way you want them then you could rereplicate the library back to the subscribers.

Or you could take a Vault Backup through the ADMS Console and restore the backup onto a test vault server. This way you can test the setting you want to change before making these changes on your production vault server.

Hi @paul.gunn and @Jason.Courtemanche,

Thank you very much for your helpful replies. We actually found according backups on the server. I was not aware of the fact that the content center libraries would be a separate entity that could be restored without restoring the whole vault. Thus, the problem is solved (or never existed in the first place?) but your answers pointed me in the right direction, which is much appreciated.
