DWF update from Job Server - Unknown error during publishing

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same error on two different Vault Job Servers: the first is a brand new server with a fresh Vault DB created directly with 2023.1.1, the second is an already working Vault since 2012 and updated from time to time, recently updated to 2023.1.1.
In both cases, Job Processor is on a brand new, Windows 10 separate machine.

I'm unable to update DWFs via Job Processor; in addition, if I open Vault Client on the Job Server and try to manually update the DWF of a file (clicking "Update" from the Preview tab), immediately after clicking "Update" Vault returns an error message: "Unknown error during publishing" and no DWF is created.

Checking Windows Task Manager, when you try to update DWF on the Job Server, no additional task appears; when doing it on the client PC, the additional "Inventor Server For Vault" task appears during the DWF creation/update.
If I perform the same action from a client PC, the Update DWF works fine.

On the Job Server, Inventor is not installed, but it worked flawless without it (thanks to Inventor Server for Vault) on the latest release before the update (2019).

What can I check? There are a couple of Autodesk Knowledge Base documents about a similar error but they didn't solve the problem.

Thank you,
Regards
Matteo

Are you running the Job Processor on the Vault Server machine?

No, they are 2 different machines; the Job Processor is a different Windows 10 machine.

What type of file are you trying to create a DWF from? Have you tried opening that file in the authoring application and exporting it out as a DWF?

They are Inventor .ipt, .iam or .idw files.
If I open them in Inventor on a client machine and export as DWF, no issues.
If I generate the DWF preview update from Vault from a client machine, no issues.
If I try to do the same (DWF preview update from Vault) on the Job Processor machine, I get the "Unknown error during publishing" 0.5 seconds after clicking "Update" (it shows the "Update in progress" window for a tenth of second, and then the error appears). 🙄

Hello Irvin,

the design data were ok; meanwhile, Autodesk released Vault 2023.2 update and this solved the problem: Job Server is working correctly and generating DWF without issues.

They also updated this page, which is related to my problem (more or less) and told to install Inventor client as a workaround, suggesting to install Vault 2023.2 as the solution, too.

Thank you,
MR
