Creating a Sheet Set

let me preface this question by saying that I have been an avid user of Autodesk products since 1987, and have always sought to use all the new tools and ideas presented. I have used sheet sets for the last 5 years, and Vault for the last 2 years - though never the 2 together. I am in a situation now where we have Vault professional so I am endeavoring to use Vault with Sheet Sets, as it has been described to me as being a valid workflow.

This is thee most frustrating thing I have ever experienced with Autodesk (and that includes R13 the dog). The reseller can't help me because they don't know how to do it, and Autodesk won't help me because it would be considered "training".  Really. Then offer training I can pay for and I will gladly do it. they refer me to the internet. Really.

So - problems- right now, I am just trying to make a sheet set and get it checked into Vault. that is it. The whole thing. I keep getting errors about it can't create the project folder, or "access to path denied".

Really.

I did manage to get an existing sheet set into the vault, which took roughly 12 hours to do, that sheet set has an issue where if you publish from the sheet set all the tags come up as #### (though the sheet looks fine and you can print the sheets one at a time ok).

WHERE IS THE LOVE??????????????????????????????

appreciating any help at all, please, someone out there, help ! FYI we are all 2016 and it is Vault Professional, and I am Admin

I posted this under my old name, samspade, that has my old email so I won't get a response to my request for an answer... can you please reply to this account?

Hi Sam,

Here's some Info. Let me know if you have specific questions.

In practice, I found it worked OK. Apart from one annoying bug described in the comments here.

Hi samspade,

Your users that check sheetsets into will need to have Document Manager Level 1 permissions in addition to their Document Editor permissions because the property type tag of the sheetset requires it.

I hope this helps!

do i start the sheet set on c:\designs?

do i create and add a sheet then check in?

if one more person sends me to that stupid help page that is completely vague and therefore useless i will scream.

thank you all for your efforts.

Hi

Create it locally, save it, then check in. You also need to verify that the access control list is not preventing the folder create.
