Copy design issue, model state

Hi

I have two model states in the assembly A. The bolt size is M16 in the primary while it is M12 in the second model state which was supressed.

The assembly A is put in another assembly B as a sub assembly. The second model state with M12 is actually not used in assembly B.

When copy design in the vault basic, it stops with this error message.

The question is if the copy design works or not if there parts supressed in the model state?

Hello!  Are you performing Copy Design on Assembly A, or B?  What version of Vault Basic?

Hi, i had a couple of trials. i am using vault basic 2025.

Sorry, ignore assembly A & B please.

Let`s have a look at a simple assembly consisting of one nut and washer.

One ipart was used to place the M16 nut in the assembly and used as the primary model state.

In the second model state, M16 was changed to M12 using the IFeature Table.

Then we get the issue of unable to copy design.

I get a feeling that it might be because of the iPart.

How were those files added to vault? what classifications do they have?

Compare this article?

Hi

We created those iparts then generated all the washers, nuts and bolts using those iparts from the table. It is a normal check in process.

adam_liMNCRV_1-1762809200192.png

After the Property was set to Classification is Design Document, i ran the first Find Now. The files which i found are all .idw files.

adam_liMNCRV_0-1762809009974.png

When i set the Property to File Extension, contains, i need to manually type in the value as ipt, then Add

Then, again i set the Property to File Extension, contains, i manually typed in the value as iam, then Find Now

There is no value that can be picked up. I am using vault basic 2025.

There are no items to show in this view.

Hi @adam_liMNCRV

sorry I do not have basic handy, but can you add classification as column and check what is in there as value on such a file?

Also, you could open up a support request and someone in your timezone could be of assistance.

Thanks.
