Application not found

Usually I open vaulted autocad drawings thru autocad, but the other day I was in a hurry and double clicked an Autocad Mechanical drawing in Vault.  It asked me if I wanted to check out the file, I said no, then it downloads, but will not open Autocad - it tells me "Application not found".  I normally dont use this workflow, but this sounds like something is not working correctly... any ideas?

This is Vault Professional 2016 build 21.1.4 Update 1

Autocad Mechanical 2016 buillt on: M.107.0.0 SP1

Hi James,

Thanks for contacting using the Vault forums, I would be happy to assist you with this file opening problem.

I have seen similar issues with applications not launching from the Vault client. You may need to change some settings in your vault client. Please goto Tools -> Options then select 'Open' next to the 'Invoke with Double-Click' option:

Also please check under the 'Open File behavior settings' button:

then make sure that the correct version fo AutoCAD mechanical is listed:

If the right version is not listed here you may need to reinstall the vault client to get it to recognize your current version of AutoCAD Mechanical.

Let me know if changing either of these settings helps or if there is anything else I can assist with.

Hi James,

Please do let me know what you find out.

Another thing I was wondering was - if you get the file in the Vault client then goto the working folder and double click it to open. Do you see any error messages there or does the file open correclty in AutoCAD Mechanical?

I'm with upchurt (last posting)...  It sounds like the WIndows file extension association for (AutoCAD) .DWG is not set to the AutoCAD or Autodesk DWG Launcher..

Ok, I tried that, did a "get", went to working folder and dbl click - it opens Autocad Mechanical.  No problems there... I will continue to figure this out and post when I find something.

Hi James,

I think Mark is onto the fix here - try setting the DWG to default to opening with the DWG Launcher.

Let me know if this works or if you need any more help with this error.

Sorry for the delay...tried setting it to default, no luck.  I guess I will try reinstalling the client.  Really didnt want to do this but I have to get this to work.  Thanks for all the suggestions, I dont know what I would do without these forums!

@Winks87,

Before you reinstall the client, you might want to first try and just reset the AutoCAD for the user so that the secondary installer will re-register the AutoCAD application with all of the appropriate actions:

Please try that and let us know of your results.

Thank you.

Thank you Trent & Bob, the reset utility corrected this.  I will work thru customization to see where I goofed this up.  Might be the #*@# profile....I dont like profiles...
