Advantages re: Vault Items vs Vault Files

Greetings.

I'm looking at the feasibility of moving our Vault workflow from File management to Item management but need a business case to present.  I have searched the available Autodesk and internet sources for a white paper, or some other document, that would explain:

1. What are the irresistible advantages of Items over Files?

2. How to switch tracks from File management to Item management (high level).

3. How to deal with legacy Files in the Item environment (high level).

Does anyone know of such a white paper/document?  If I show how using Items can...save money...save time...reduce errors...increase productivity...I'll be the Hero of the Day.

It's a pitty, there is nothing about, "should I use lifecycles on files or lifecycles on Items?" and how do I take on that transition, in the AU video
