Project folder

Hello all! I am very new (1 week in) to Vault Professional and I am trying to make some modifications.

I would like to customize the view when saving a file, I have some custom parameters that I want to see, possibly edit in some cases. How do I customize the view below?

Secondly I would like the user to be able to save the file to a folder of their choice under the Device Hierarchy folder.

How to do this?

All help is appreciated!

Welcome to the Vault community :). You can customize the dialog, but I wonder why your custom parameters (user-defined properties) don't appear automatically in the table. Any property related to the selected category "Engineering" will display automatically. To get started with customizing the dialogs or logic, I suggest walking through the Vault Data Standard Tutorial. Access it best from the Help: Vault 2024 Help | Vault Data Standard - Tutorial | Autodesk. The folder breadcrumb (first line) will add subfolders for selection as you create these in your Vault. It is intended to populate the Vault folder structure instead of the local working folder (if you mean this with "device hierarchy").

Hi Markus!

Thank you for the advice!

Our projects currently are in folders 0000\YY\XXXXXX - project folder. Where 0000 and YY come from SAP. And I would like to have the user create the "XXXXXX - project folder" as there are new projects. Do I need to have a new Inventor Vault project for every project or can this folder be created in this Data standard save dialog?

I got the dialog customization working with the category mapping.

I just needed a reboot 🙂

We recommend running Inventor-Vault with a single project file (set enforce option in Administration!). We can create a new folder on the fly. My published extended sample demonstrates this extension:

You can access the sample for 2024 (change the release number to access 2023 or 2025 (to be released soon): Releases · koechlm/VDS-Sample-Configurations-2024 (github.com)

Looks promising! There are installation instructions somewhere in the zip files? Will have to check back on your git for the -25 version.

Installation is straightforward. Backup your configuration files and expand the archive packages provided in the release section. I am not sure that I will finalize 2025 this week. VDS Tutorial files are also waiting to be updated for 2025...
