creating a folder structure template

Hi,

I am a beginner to this but we have had a company install Vault 2022 on a local server and install vault client on all the machines that connect to this server.

When we start a new task with Vault client we right click on project from the side bar and click create new folder.

once we create this new folder we rename it to the project number to start work.  I was wondering if it is possible that when we create this folder a script runs which create 4 sub folders automatically within this new folder with the names; Models, DWGs, Photos & 3rd Party.

I don't have access to the vault server directly to do this on the server but is this possible via the client?  as every time I have to add these 4 folders manually and ensure the folders names are correct with no spelling mistakes.

our support team tell us this is possible in Vault 2024 but not 2022 and due to our IT being locked down within our business there is no scope to upgrade currently,

kind regards

jon

Vault Professional 2024 has now a right-click context tool built-in to copy a folder structure from one location to another. So if you created a master folder with that structure, you can copy it with the tool.

Also, a small ad/plug for our own add-in at my company which has a tool for Vault 2024 and 2023 to do it, "Copy Folder Structure" in case you are using 2023 instead: https://info.synergis.com/sidekick

Hi ,
I would advise you to use EZFolders, a tool that generates structured folder trees from CSV files or plain text outlines, directly into platforms like Dropbox, Google Drive, or local systems.
it's great for beginners and saves a lot of time!

You mean aside from just having a folder in your projects folder called base and copy pasting it in the file explorer? There are many ways. My preferred one is using Github templates.
