Synchronize item props to file

Hi all,

in a Vault Professional 2018 environment I configured an individual numbering system for items. The item number is written back to the part number of the linked file.

When I assign an item to a file I have to call the function 'synchronize properties' to write the item number to the part number of the linked file. A new file version is generated.

O.K., but the item is still linked to the 'old' version of the file. So, I have to update the item to get the right file version linked.

Not very comfortable. Is there a way to sync props from item to file automatically?

I know, in Vault 2019 there is a new column 'item file link state' to see if file and item props are in sync. But the synchronization is still complicated.

I wanted to confirm if you are looking to achieve this using the Vault API? If this is related to the product then, I would suggest you to post this on the Vault forum, where you could get better responses from the product experts. This one is specific to the Vault API.
