Consuming Number with command Save As - No Data Standard Window in AutoCad

Hi,

i have an issue with Numbering Scheme (Vault) , Data Standard and command Save AS in AutoCad.

A Numbering Scheme in Vault is active.

When i save a new file, the Data Standard Window is shown and i am able to choose a Number from the Numbering Scheme or a free Name for the file.

With command Save As no Data Standard Windows opens and a Number from the Scheme is consumed. I could give a free name, but the number is lost.

I expected that Save As opens the same Data Standard Dialog than Save.

In Inventor this works fine with activated Data Standard.

Only if I deactivate Data Standard in Inventor I get the same behavior.

Why does not open a Data Standard Window with command Save AS in AutoCad?

Where can i change this?

Regards Martin

Hello,

What you see for AutoCAD 'Save As' command (not leading to Vault Data Standard) is as-designed. Note that this command is actually 'Save Copy as' (if you can see in the Save dialog)

For the comparison with Inventor, note that Inventor 'Save As' command leads to Data standard and the 'Save Copy As' command donot lead to Data Standard.

May I ask if Data Standard 'Copy' command in AutoCAD would work for your workflow?

@gandhey

Hi, Yogeshwar thank you for your answer. I have tested the possibility to save the AutoCad file with the DataStandard command Copy and it is a possibility to copy a file without a numbering scheme. Nevertheless, I think Autodesk should implement the same behavior when saving with Data Standard in AutoCad as it works in Inventor. So a SaveAs Command which also opens the DataStandard. Or is it already possible to catch the SaveAs event and then open a DataStandard window via additional programming the DataStandard for AutoCad?
How does the DataStandard call for Save and SaveAs works in Inventor?
