It is not possible to remove a linked document on an item once the document is released. See this very old post from 2022: Link    The situation: Item is in development, you want to attach a document from the documents section of the project. You do so, but later want to change the linked document, which is not possible anymore, even as admin. More so: if you release the item and go back to develpoment, you carry on the old linked documents forever and old documents that were linked in the past get carried over to each item revision, leading to confusion, what documents to use. Additional Note: If you create a folder in the documents section and add that folder to the linked documents section of an item, you actually can delete the whole folder but inside of the item the documens are still listed as linked and cannot be removed, even if you click the "remove link" option, nothing happens. If you attach a document to an item, share the document with a project (so it appears in the linked documents section) and afterwards release the item, the document within the item gets a new document number, but the linked item stays on the old document number. Additionally there is no possibility to share the then released document from the released item, so that you see different document numbers in the linked documents section and in the item, which is very confusing. This behavior with generating new document numbers for each release for each file attached is something that makes this feature unusable for us currently, since you generate a lot of doubled files which are theoretically identical, but if you send data to other dicisions/companies, how can they know, that files with different file numbers are basically the same?   General Suggestion on how to handle item document numbering: It would be much more handy if an attached documents holds the same document number over various releases, or even better, does not get a document number but gets the part number (+Revision) of the item it is attached to + document revision + the name and the file type, which differs from the native CAD file translations. This way we could export all data to one item and get meaningfule file names. It happens very fast, that the path in the bulk export exceeds the windows path capabilities. The situation is: I attached a document to an item in a custom specification document category which leads to the following folder structure within the bild export zip-archive: <main_assembly_item_name_item_name>/<Documents/item_number_item_name>/<custom_category_name>/actual_file_name.filetype even with very short item and document names the limit of windows path length is reached very fast, so a Zip file has to get unpacked manually, which is very frustrating for a bulk export, that should remove manual work steps. We have created a lot of custom properties to label our items, just to find out now that these properties are only searchable via the quick search and not the advances search. This is very frustrating to find out this kind of feature does not exist. When implementing the advances search, it would consequently make sense to have a dropdown list for properties that are of the type "picklist", to directly be able to search for the picklist entry. basically like the search for categories and category attributes which works perfectly fine. When a new item is created through the Upchain web application, users can’t attach or add 3D models later — that option is only available in CAD integrations (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.). To avoid confusion, show an additional message along with the success popup: “You can not add 3D models to this item.” This will clearly inform users about the limitation and reduce support issues. Upchain should provide Admins with the ability to define which user roles are permitted to add or remove users from a Project Team. This enhancement would allow for more granular control over team composition and access rights, tailored to the unique needs of each project.   Rationale: Currently, any user with a Professional license—even if assigned a Viewer role within a project—can add other users to the Project Team. This behavior undermines permission integrity and poses a risk in environments requiring strict access controls, such as those subject to SOX Compliance or other external audits. By enabling Admins to configure role-based permissions for team management, Upchain can: Strengthen internal governance and security. Prevent unauthorized user additions. Align with compliance requirements and audit expectations. Support diverse project structures with varying access needs. I have been using SolidWorks with the Upchain plugin installed. Our team shares seats and rotates access to the licenses. When using SolidWorks without an Upchain seat, the notification pop-up indicating that you lack a seat can sometimes appear behind the main SolidWorks window. When this happens, and you perform another action in SolidWorks, the program may freeze. In such cases, you need to locate the dialog box, but the 'OK' button is unresponsive. It's a complete lockup.   I am fine with the pop-up appearing to let me know that I don't currently have a seat; however, it causes what I am working on to be locked up and requires me to force close SolidWorks, losing any work I had done over the 10 to 20 minutes.     Show More

Favorites in the BOM views so you don't have to repeatedly click thru the tree again and again to get to the same location in the tree that you're working on would reduce a HUGE pain point using both the plugin and the web client. A list of favourites would be great but even a single set of "remember this view" and "recall saved view" buttons (similar to MS and MR buttons on calculator) would save a tremendous amount of grief.  I often find myself ploughing thru the tree to the exact same location 5 or 10 times in as many minutes.   Show More

Allow items that have picked up redistributed orphans on a CN to be edited. Once an orphan has been assigned to a CN item it become uneditable -- you can't deselect the item or change the quantities. This means that one =often= has to discard a CN (usually after investing significant time selecting individual items) because the orphan attachment and/or the R qty balance isn't desired. If editing is particularly difficult then just de-selection would at least let  you keep the rest of the items on the CN to complete them rather than throwing everything away. Show More

If you have an item on a CN with multiple "buckets" of the item in the orphan list (ie. one location with qty 2 is no longer present, another location with qty 4 is no longer present) then when you redistribute items it doesn't always balance the full quantity when you redistribute. For example, with the parts above if the new location has Qty 5 then it will definitely not move 5 orphans -- either picking 2 or 4 but not the full qty. I'm not positive if it will use both source orphan sets if the new location has Qty 6 -- but I think it also does not. Show More

User Case: Filter in the WebApp eBOM View all Parts that have a specific value for Heat Treat, Finish Material etc. Allow for Bulk editing for the filtered items.  Spare Ref Only the same would apply for filter for all items that don't have a value in Heat Treat or Finish. and Bulk edit the filter Heat Treat or Finish. a possible solution could be to allow Bulk editing of "Group by" selections. the user would use the function "Group by Finish" for example and then would Bulk edit for the Group. It would be helpful to have a toggle to allow viewers to see unreleased product structure items.   We want to use product structure items as folders (as recommended by Upchain tech support), but in order for it to work, they have to stay in development. This means that our viewers can't see the projects, as they can only see the latest released.   Having a toggle means other companies that use product structure items differently can continue to do so without viewers seeing them. I think this should show 100% but if this is inappropriate for some reason a different indication (eg. N/A) could be used. The key thing is to show a full green bar so that one can scan thru the list looking for under-ordered components more easily. Currently the 0% white bars make it very difficult to scan for these items since there is a lot of noise for the reference components. Show More

In my opinion, this is a bug in the plugin. Pasting in an item number the search box sometimes brings in a trailing space character. That whitespace character is treated as a literal part of the value being searched, such that it's looking for an impossible item number, leading to no matches until I delete the trailing space.    Please add a call to a leading/trailing whitespace strip function on the value of this textbox before using it to search.        Show More
