blocking Checkout of Items with a prefix Item number or ItemType and release status

the following idea would prevent errors in imported parts, Purchased Parts standard Parts etc.

the Idea is as following.

• the admin would create a set of criteria for an Item.
• if this criteria is applicable. Users are not allowed to checkout this item. only admins.
• the criteria would be for example but not exclusive.
  • a Prefix or a group of Prefix in the Item Number.
  • a combination of Item type and item status.

this idea would reduce errors and create more secure System for standard, Purchased Parts or Imported Parts.

Hi @anajjar8F7B6,

there is already a similar feature available which you can consider that is preventing of item checkout for specific roles. Please check the help document found here: Set roles permitted to create a new version of specific, released item types. 

There is a tenant property which, when configured, will limit which roles can create new item versions out of released items and affects actions: checkout, copy-replace and replace with new version.
