Visualization update of up level bom

Hi Forum

Can some one please help find the best approach to keep the 3D Visualization of upper bom levels updated.

We are working on an assembly in Solidworks. And we will like to use Upchain to visualise the assembly for the whole engineering team. But as the CAD team works separate on sub-assemblies/parts it is rare that the top level assembly is opened and saved/checked in. But as this often is the access point the rest of the team, it is quite annoying that the top level visulization(s) are not up to date.  Is there a quick fix other than forcing the CAD team to regular save and check in all the BoM structure up to the top level? When working on large complex assemblies/projects this can be quite a time-consumer! Especially be course we need to open and save the whole assembly and not just as simplified version. Due to the fact, that it then will be the simplified version that would be made a Visualization of.

Before Upchain the CAD team saved out a E-drawing on regular basis for the rest for the team to view. But having Upchain in house we of course would like to use the 3D Visualization in the cloud instead.

I hope you can follow the "problem".

Cheers!

Hi @skoYVPRV Visualization can only be generated based on the files that are saved into Upchain. So this does mean that for accurate top level visualizations, it will need to be checked in. However, to make check ins of larger assemblies faster, the CAD plugin has a function called Root Check In. Read more on this here. There is also a tenant property that may be of use to you called create.visualization.on.rootonly.save that only generates visualizations for items that have been root checked in. Lastly, you could still generate .easm files and manually attach them to the item as well so that others can access those files. Hope this helps.
