What to learn as a new BIM Modeler

Hello, I’m 18 years old and have been working as a sub-contractor BIM/RevIt modeler at a firm for a little over 2 years now. I’ve been focusing on learning a lot of practical knowledge when it comes to all trades, with a focus on plumbing and site utilities. I’ve also worked a lot with trade coordination and clash resolution. As is typical with some in the industry, we’re in between large projects at the moment, so work is slow.

My main question is, what would be some practical things I could learn or focus on to become more valuable as a future BIM technician? Would it be worth it to learn how to work on smaller residential projects that have a quick turnaround and that I could work on solo in addition to the work I do with the team? Or should my focus be on larger commercial projects with the firm I am a part of?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
