Revit or CAD 2 bedroom layout Ideas

I wanted to get a generic two bedroom Revit model because in the next couple of years I am going to start building a small house and want to get some ideas on how I want to build it. I work every day I work in Revit and CAD doing plumbing for commercial building so not as familiar on setting up for a house. I have some experience using the architecture side of Revit but not as much as Id like. I am just looking for something very basic. I can go in and add things like counter tops and fixtures. I was thinking something around 1000 to 1200 square feet.

If it's just 2d dwgs, then use AutoCAD.

If it's 3d then you may want to use Revit but will require a bit more steep learning curve.

Since you're already familiar with both just do a search on youtube for video lessons on drawing a house either with the use of AutoCAD or Revit.

Would you recommend using a 2d CAD for the floor plan and then design on top of that? I feel like the way I am wanting to do it the only thing underground I am going to need to do is plumbing. The above ground is where some of it might get more complicated but I think I can figure out a lot of it. Thank you for the suggestion, later today I am going to watch some videos and see if I can get a good file going.
