HomeStyler or something like it…?

To All Autodesk Personnel, or Beta users,

Just a general question regarding New/Old software, that has been discontinued, sold off, or may “reappear” as new software or re-branded. At one time, (as the title implies) Autodesk had a good product named “HomeStyler”. This Autodesk product was a good starting point for residential use and actually had the ability to save, or convert the drawings it created into a real AutoCAD drawing, or REVIT file, which in turn, could be handed to an Architect, or Contractor as a “Conceptual” sketch or layout. Obviously, the professional or commercial user would still need to do more work before handing over or using the “Conceptual” sketch as a real working drawing. I believe HomeStyler or something like it is still out there but, not in the same compacity that it was when Autodesk owned, or ran the software. Well this leads to the actual question which is, “will Autodesk have something like that again in the future”?

Please feel free to chime in or point me in the right direction, if in fact there is something new out there that I may not be aware of. I’m also interested to see if there were other “Beta” users that have used this software and thought it was a good product, or bad. As I’ve said before I’m not looking to bash Autodesk. Just trying to get a feel of what has been going on in the industry. Also, if you are currently involved with or in an “NDA” please do not violate your agreement. To the administrators, if you feel this post belongs on a different board, or posting feel free to move it, or send me a PM if you would like to discuss this a little more outside of the forum.

Talk to you all later,

Milt (a.k.a. “Drafter1981”)

Easyhome looks like they bought homestyler from autodesk. Its still out there and looks like it can still export dwg(on some level any way).

I'm not aware of any Autodesk products like home styler (thats not saying much though). I have seen formit used as a conceptual medium, but its much more of a modeler than a point and click home designer.

@Drafter1981

Bet you are afraid to break off the rafts 🙂

I do all my 3d printing modeling in autocad, so choose bricscad if you don't already have an acad seat.

STLOUT command does the export.

I'm a civil though, no artichoke experience...
