So of the many things I'm bummed about having missed AU again, the lego figurine swag is probably the worst... any one have any idea where i could pick some of these up... are there any seedy trade show swag black markets any one knows about?

SO Operation Brickman 2017 was a Play on star wars where R4 or CADnoob D2 and... a pirate (dont ask why the pirate) were sent on a rescue mission to recover the "I Heart AutoCAD" Figure.
Operation Brickman 2018 was a special assignment from the CIA or rather CNA (Central Noob-teligence Agency) for the guys to use an undecorver servailance vehicle disguised as a taco truck to mount a rescue mission for the "I Heart AutoCAD" Figure.
As for #operationbrickman2019 Im not certain what the schtick will be. Im leaning towards some type of lab accident but time will tell.

I'm excited, if all goes to plan I might be able to go AU2019...
Thats awesome. I was hoping to possibly send my self this year, but it looks like they are going to send me to an ERP conference.... im wearing to many different hats these days ![]()
On an even sadder note one of my mini figures was stolen! the cleaning crew brought one of their children with them and he "borrowed" several things from around the office.... very very sad day
CADnoob
So we have a lego poacher.... So sad, they probaby didn't even know the significance, so wasted.
If my class on Design, CAD, Education and the future does get approved, I'll bag a few and peddle them to those who need them to keep upto date.
Class lists still not released and that was supposed to happen end of Feb and its middle of March.
Its a good day! he was returned!! Well most of him lol. The important parts were returned. His accessories that he had are gone, but i can handle that (they weren't original to AU). They caught him on camera and they brought the pressure to the company providing the service and they recovered most of the property that was taken from the office including my figures!

Yayy, back in safe hands, maybe keep them more secure. I used to secure mine on top of my monitor.
Atleast everything is back as it should be.
Still waiting for AU class list.
Oh, I'm so glad you got the important pieces back.
My last cube farm (in a very secured building, so not much risk of things growing legs and wandering off)... my team's area was pilfered... but none of my stuff (legos, magnets, pins, rubix cube, hotwheels... aka, actual toys) was touched. It was all personal items of the adults around me. ~shrugs~ But, again, cameras were in use, so things found their way back home eventually.
What is it with office theft, of all the things to pilfer and they go for lego...
Atleast they have happy endings. Are we going to need to display case our whole collections now?
well, I've been working from home since 2016, so the only office theft is playful children and kitties that all belong to me. lol.
It wasn't something that ever happened in my first job, where I worked for well over a decade, but, I heard stories from friends. Especially lunch thieves. I just can't grasp it myself.
Aww, nice, working from home does have its advantages, as for pets they can be easily bribed or given a box and you'll get what was yours. Some places I've been for work experience are pretty tight on what is on desk so it doesn't happen but most are chill.
My only job working in a cube farm, I was the only IT person on the floor, and kept being asked questions that were NOT related to my job (like, hey, the lease manager isn't in her office, when will she be back? or hey, are in you meetings and events, I want to know about the upcoming activity? or hey, I need a new shelf for my files... etc etc etc)... so, I REALLY geeked up my space to make it abundantly clear that I was one of those weird IT people and should be left alone. (I begged for a move to one of the IT buildings, where it was quieter and nerdier, but, DENIED again and again. My VP was a real butts in seats kinda leader... even tried to insist that the system changes I pushed on weekends be done in person. Hmm, yeah, nooo. Call me an entitled millenial, but, there's no reason for me to drive an hour into the office to make a 30 minute change and then drive another hour home. Just no. What a waste of fossil fuels and office electricity.) Anyway, keeping toys and nerdy accouterments did achieve the goal I set... people finally started leaving me alone (I'm midwestern, way too nice to tell people to get lost and leave me alone lol).
Second that, can definitely verify that IT people hate being disturbed unless they want you, one of the techs at a placement was an absolute geek and decided to code himself a moving turret that just sits in the corner but I've seen other toys and gadgets as well as banner saying 'There's a thing called email and another called internal memos'...
AU Las Vegas is finally here!!!
Anyone running a blackmarket this year?
Even if your not feel free send more pictures of these mischievious brick people and their shenanigans.
So #operationbrickman2019 a contractor was highered. A mad genetic scientist created a clone army to assist in finding I love AutoCAD figures. As with all black opps, I will not know if the operation was successful until the operation is complete.
CADnoob
Ayy, looks like they had fun, hope your contractor procures the goods.
The last AU I went to I grabbed a handful of those Lego minfigs. I wound up giving them out to the techs in the office that couldn't go to AU and my daughter. I managed to keep one for myself though.
The Lego store in the Disney mall area now has a create your own minifigure that you can select the parts and have it print what you want on the figures now. I am not sure how much it costs but will be there at the end of the month.
As much as I'd be tempted to make my own, it doesn't have the same feel as a proper one, although that may be a last resort.
hmmm.... custom printed seems awesome. I wonder what the rules and restrictions are on that.. left to my own devices i would probably create things generally not welcome in the Disney environment. though as far as printing the I Love AutoCAD one i have to agree with @leowarren34 I'll know its origin and resent it haha.
That and the cost of going to disney is probably way more expensive than going to AU haha
CADnoob
Hmm, AU Vegas is pretty expensive but AU London is cheaper if I remember correctly- which means no flights, a great convention and Lego, what more could I want?
