Ok, yes, that title is sarcastic.

Anyone else tired of public agencies asking for "GIS" format?

I'm about ready to rename our dwg's as .gis and see what the agencies do with it.

 

Or make a shapefile of lines that form a big "42" and see if they get the HHGTTG humor.

Every ESRI user can import dwg's so can't they just teach them in their master's degree courses that CAD IS GIS data?

So you went sdf. Maybe it does arcs?

Most go shapefile, but the point is there is no one GIS format, and anyone requesting such data knows what they want so should say.

At least at the circus the director guy points to what flaming hoop the lion should jump though.
