may I download a sample Revit model so I may rehearse setting up the Revit model and understand why I can configure connections? thanks

There are some great sample models on AKN. Check on the Revit Sample Project Files AKN page. There is also, the sample model provided to users when they first log in to Autodesk Tandem.
