Combined Charts - Practical example

I have a pair of Ecobee thermostats at my house that I've been streaming into Tandem for some time now. I thought it might be interesting to share that by using the combined charts I can see my upstairs temperature runs warmer by about 2-3 degrees but downstairs my humidity tends to run higher by a surprising 7-9%. I already run a dehumidifier in the basement, but I need to manually empty it. The chart shows I probably need to do that more often or run a drain hose from it!

As an experiment I've also thought about adding a vibration sensor to the humidifier, streaming it and adding a threshold so I can visually see in Tandem when it's not running. I'd love hear other ideas too!

Likewise, but for an office environment. In this example I have an Office connection for the mean value. This can help with identifying spikes for individual spaces. It would be good if Tandem could have a toggle to show mean values on combined charts and individual charts for that parameter type, and to show it with a different line style.

A couple of thoughts come to mind when viewing this data.

  • Whether the popup list needs to be ordered the same as shown at that point in the chart? Or whether that would just get too confusing as you move along the chart as the list constantly changes?
  • Should the connections with missing data at that time be interpolated, and somehow indicated as such in the list?

Other examples that come to mind, from an occupant's perspective:

  • If you've got a room occupancy sensor that can count total number of occupants for that space, then overlay that with temperature and CO2.
  • Individual space occupancy vs that space's lights and power outlet energy usage. i.e. can the space's energy consumption be reduced/improved?
  • For my office, in the future I want to know the corelation between daily total hot desk occupancy vs resources utilisation such as printers. Yes, I stream real-time printer data into Tandem. This will help with budgeting.

This is really good feedback @Chad-Smith! Your comment about showing mean value or average over time is well received. While we don't have anything out of the box in production the Tandem TestBed (REST) API will allow you to export 30 days of stream values so in theory you could export that data, run a calculation and then stream the calculated value back into Tandem as a new parameter. The is also a good plug for people to join the Insider Lounge as the Tandem Connect beta also helps facilitate the above workflow.
