Structural Bridge Design prestressed beam definition

Hi all,

I am working on a project in South America where they use a different type of prestressed beams than the ones we have in the library.

Is it possible to design a new prestressed beam in Autodesk Structural Bridge Design? Is it possible to include post-tensioned prestressed beams?

Many thanks,

Aharon

Hi Aharon

Sure you can. A precast beam of any shape can be built up from straight lines and arcs, selecting the PC Beam Define option from the pre-tensioned beam section definition form. The tendon locations can be defined to suit.

The import option on the same form allows a precast beam together with tendons and reinforcement (if defined) to be imported from a DXF or DWG file. If you have a series of shapes then put each shape on a different layer in the DXF/DWG and select the appropriate layer on import.

Post tensioned beams can also be defined of any shape and be designed to AASHTO LRFD 7 or BS 5400 in ASBD 2018.
